Taking a trip to New Zealand? Here’s eight top tips to help you pack.

Layers. Snow in one place, subtropical temperatures the next. Raining in the morning, crystal clear skies the afternoon. New Zealand is renowned not only for landscape extremes, but it’s remarkable ‘four-seasons-in-one-day.’ Layers are your friend.

Insect repellent. This one is particularly essential if you’re travelling down the spectacular West Coast - home of the notorious ‘sand-fly.’ You don't want to be sightseeing from your car. Just saying.

Sunscreen. New Zealand is breath-taking on a sunny day but let's be sun-safe, people. Keep those rays away with factor 50 SPF, even when it’s overcast.

Walking shoes. Kiwi-land is brimming with beautiful walks. Believe us. You'll become a convert even if you’re not really a fan of hiking. Good sturdy shoes are a must.

A waterproof jacket. Remember what we said about the weather? Even if it’s fine, even if there isn't a cloud in the sky, take a rain jacket on your day trip. Don't say we didn't warn you.

A camera. From mountains and volcanoes to beaches, lakes, rain forests and bush. Rugged coastal roads, alpine passes, crystal clear streams, thundering waterfalls and vibrant wine country. Enough said. Bring a camera.

An electric converter and adapter.  New Zealand’s electrical voltage is 230v and we use a three prong plug system. You’ll most likely need an adapter but check the voltage in your home country as you may need a converter as well.

A small extra bag for travelling home. You’ll want to collect souvenirs from your time away and if you're visiting our renowned wine regions, it’s likely you'll come away several bottles heavier (trust us, our wine is that good). Bring a small bag to accommodate any purchases - saves you trying to stuff it into your already overfull case.
