Tour summary and feature with map

Arriving in the tropical city of Darwin, spend your first day getting to know the city and meandering through the Waterfront Precinct, a great spot to relax by the lagoon or grab dinner at an alfresco restaurant. The following day, join AAT Kings to experience the spectacular jumping crocodiles of the Adelaide River south of Darwin, followed by a visit to Fogg Dam. This stunning wetland is home to various native birds, often congregating around the dam wall, and is a haven for water pythons and freshwater turtles. Your next day includes a small group tour to Litchfield National Park to explore this ancient stone country, its waterfalls, and natural pools and learn about its cultural significance. Jet set to Broome, Australia's pearling capital, and embark on an afternoon cruise for a live pearling experience, with a private chef serving up a seven-course banquet until the sun sets over the ocean. Take the following day to explore Broome at your leisure, or perhaps a scenic flight and guided walk amongst the natural wonder of the Bungle Bungles. Your final activity day includes a seaplane trip to Talbot Bay, where you will join a cruise over Horizontal Falls, the Kimberley's tidal waterfall. March to November is the dry season in northern Australia and the ideal time to take this trip!

Arrive into Darwin

Welcome to the Northern Territory's unhurried capital, Darwin. The city is a melting pot of cultures, with rich Aboriginal connections to country as well as strong Asian influences in its cuisine, thanks to its close proximity to Asia. Spend a balmy night at the buzzing night markets, see crocodiles up close, or slow things down with a cruise on the harbour.

Darwin Waterfront Precinct - suggestion

The Waterfront Precinct is Darwin's entertainment and dining hub, located within close proximity from Smith Street Mall and the Esplanade. Swim in the man-made (and protected) recreational beach, or take a plunge in the popular Wave Lagoon. This attraction rolls out 10 different wave patterns every 20 minutes, startling with gentle swells before increasing to waves up to 1.2 metres high. There are plenty of sun loungers and shady areas to hang out, or continue to explore the many eateries and bars surrounding the waterfront. Stokes Hill Wharf is a short walk away, and offers plenty of alfresco eateries and entertainment.

Mindil Beach Sunset Markets, Darwin - suggestion

Head to the Mindil Beach Sunset Markets on a Thursday or Sunday evening, to browse a wide selection of local and handmade goods or taste some of the best food in the city. With over 200 stallholders, the Mindil Markets is a cultural melting pot which is bound to satisfying your appetite. Try grilled crocodile or a buffalo burger, then sit on the foreshore of Mindil Beach and witness one of the most stunning sunsets you have ever seen.

Wild North West Tour - Day 5
Explore Broome

Broome is the colourful pearling capital in the very north of Western Australia, and it's stunning natural environment is a key highlight of this sunburned city. Cable Beach is a must-see, surrounded by rolling dunes and ochre cliffs, its 22 kilometres of white sand shores and turquoise waters are something to marvel at, as are the fiery red skies at sunset. Home to beach camel rides, an array of restaurants and even beach equipment hire, it's easy to spend an entire day relaxing here.
If you are in town on a Thursday, be sure to visit the night markets held at Town Beach precinct, running from June through September. Wander around the craft and produce stalls, sample local cuisine and be serenaded by local musicians as you wander beneath the stars.
Once a bustling area of pearling crew camps and corrugated tin sheds, Broome's Chinatown is now home to noodle restaurants, galleries, retail stores and pearl showrooms. Stroll along Carnarvon Street, visit the world's oldest operating open-air picture gardens, Sun Pictures, or follow the walking trail to discover the pearling historic timeline, sculptures, and the sweeping views from Roebuck Bay Lookout.
