Welcome to Broome

Welcome to Broome, a vibrant town where sun-kissed beaches meet rich multicultural heritage. Situated on the traditional lands of the Yawuru people, Broome's story began in the 1880s as a pearling boomtown, attracting people from Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Japan and Europe. Today, this unique blend of Aboriginal traditions, Asian influences and European charm is evident everywhere you go. Explore Chinatown's bustling streets, delve into Broome's fascinating pearl lugger history, or take a camel ride along Cable Beach as the sun dips below the horizon. Learn about the fascinating pearl industry on a guided tour of a working pearl farm, where you'll witness the entire process from hatchery to showroom. Travel back in time by marveling at perfectly preserved dinosaur footprints fossilised in rock for over 120 million years. Spot rare snubfin dolphins in their natural habitat on a morning or sunset cruise. Explore the Kimberley's rich mangrove ecosystem alongside a Yawuru man, deepening your understanding of the region's cultural significance and unique plants and animals.
