Experience of the week: You are never to old to skydive

New Zealand is considered among one of the best places in the world to Tandem Skydive. You won’t regret choosing Wanaka for your New Zealand skydiving experience.

Skydiving at Lake Wanaka, New Zealand

New Zealand is considered among one of the best places in the world to Tandem Skydive. You won’t regret choosing Wanaka for your New Zealand skydiving experience.

What is the experience?

Skydiving is on many bucket lists, and crossing it off your list in a stunning location with spectacular scenery is a no-brainer. As Skydive Wanaka says “You’re never too old to skydive!”. If you are in reasonable physical condition, and have a sense of adventure, age is not a limiting factor to your New Zealand skydiving experience.

Choose to skydive in, our home town, of Wanaka and you will get 360 degree views of New Zealand’s highest mountains, including Aoraki Mt Cook and Mt Aspiring, as well as the glaciers that feed the rivers leading into numerous crystal clear lakes.

You not only enjoy these views while free-falling at 200kph through the fresh crisp air, but also from the plane ride on your way to altitude.

Where is it located?

Skydive Lake Wanaka is based at Wanaka airport, a few minutes drive from town. Surrounded by the Southern Alps in the South Island, Wanaka is located in Central Otago, just one hour’s drive from Queenstown.

Staying in Queenstown? Skydive Wanaka offer a complimentary transfer service from Queenstown, leaving twice a day. So there is no excuse for not skydiving in Wanaka if you are in  or around Queenstown .

Who would enjoy this?

Anyone with a sense of adventure will enjoy a New Zealand skydiving experience. One of the great things about tandem skydiving is that you don’t need any previous experience or training – your tandem master will guide you through it. The parachutes used at Skydive Wanaka are highly maneuverable and allow for slow soft landings, so you will be delivered to the ground with comfort and grace.

The best way to describe the sensation of free-falling is floating on a bed of air, but you will just have to do a tandem skydive to experience it for yourself.

Interesting fact?

The oldest person in the world to tandem skydive is Armand Gendreau of Canada, who skydived at the age of 101. The oldest person to Skydive at Wanaka is 92 year old Billy Mackay.
