Golf at Gulf Harbour
Be sure to include the Gulf Harbour Country Club on any golfing holidays that include Auckland on the itinerary.
Not far from central Auckland are some stunning golf courses, perfect for those looking to work on their swing or to include some Auckland greens in their golf holidays.
One great course around Auckland that can't be missed is the inimitable Gulf Harbour Country Club. This course has it all. Just a 45-minute drive from Auckland city, it offers a world-class experience as well as stunning views of the Hauraki Gulf.
To get there, hop in your car and take the northern motorway from Auckland to Silverdale. Drive through Silverdale town and follow Whangaparaoa Road to signposts that will direct you to Gulf Harbour and its amazing golf course.
And what can you expect when you get there?
An internationally renowned 6,400 metre, par 72 course awaits you, complete with rolling green knolls and spectacular views of cliffs and the serene ocean below. There are exciting holes ready to challenge both beginners and more seasoned players alike. It was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jnr, who is esteemed around the world for his architectural work – and you'll soon understand why.
Don't forget to leave time after your game to enjoy a well-earned cup of coffee and a meal at the Sandtrap Cafe. Or perhaps you'd like to peruse the Pro Shop for a new golf outfit.
If you're still yearning for more activity you can always make use of the on-site tennis and squash courts as well.
The sauna is also a popular experience, with gymnasium and swimming facilities the cherries on top.
Spend a day out at the Hauraki Gulf teeing off and you're bound to want to return again for another crack at it.
