Experience of the week: Flagstaff lodge New Zealand
Looking for luxury accommodation in Russell? Our experience of the week, The Flagstaff Lodge New Zealand, is the perfect place to stay.
What is the Experience?
In the heart of historic Russell, New Zealand, Flagstaff Lodge is a calm, tranquil escape set within a restored colonial home. Surrounded by established gardens, Flagstaff has the feel of small country estate. Choose to relax on your own private terrace and take in the magnificent bay views or soak in one of the private open air baths.
Only minutes from the centre of town, Flagstaff is an ideal base for exploring the greater Bay of Islands Area. Dip your toes in the waters of Kororareka Bay, take the ferry across to Paihia, or wander the lodge’s namesake, Flagstaff Hill historic reserve. Return home in time for complimentary pre-dinner drinks before contemplating the next day’s adventure.
Where is it located?
Russell is about a 3.5 hour drive from Auckland airport. Head north on State Highway one, then on arriving into Russell, the lodge is located on the main road into town - Wellington Street.
Who would enjoy this?
Looking for a place to relax and de-stress? This five-star accommodation is a great spot for couples to unwind in, take in a little New Zealand history and enjoy a massage from the day spa.
The town of Russell used to be New Zealand's capital and was the biggest whaling port in the southern pacific in the mid 1800s.
